Sep 26, Kathmandu - Seven kitchen workers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded early Saturday at the Polonnaruwa Nephrology Hospital in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, police said.

The blast occurred in the hospital kitchen at around 4 a.m. The injured workers were admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital, with three reported to be in serious condition, according to hospital sources.

The explosion caused significant damage to the hospital building. No patients or other healthcare workers were injured. Hospital staff evacuated patients safely, and those requiring further treatment were transferred to Polonnaruwa General Hospital.
