Sep 27, Kathmandu - Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) has provided medical care to more than 4,500 people affected by flooding in Nuwakot, the force said.

A medical team from the Nepal APF Hospital in Balambu has been running health camps at various locations in the district since Bhadra 10. Services were provided at sites including Nuwakot Ayurvedic Hospital, the Central Jail, several schools and Nuwakot Health Post.

The team also examined flood-affected residents at 25 holding centres across Bidur and Belkotgadhi municipalities and Tarkeshwar Rural Municipality.

At Nuwakot Central Jail, doctors conducted special screenings for 402 inmates and provided health advice, citing concerns about possible infectious disease outbreaks and other health problems.

To help prevent post-disaster epidemics and maintain sanitation, the APF also sprayed insecticide in Devighat Bazaar, the grounds of Devighat Secondary School and the central jail area.

APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa said medical teams remain deployed in the flood-affected areas.
