Oct 05, Kathmandu - Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has arrived in Fiji to participate in the ‘Pre-COPE Leaders’ Event’ on climate change.
The Ministry has stated that a Nepali delegation led by Minister Khanal has arrived in Fiji today to participate in the programs to be held in ‘Fiji’ and ‘Tuvalu’ on Ashwin 19 and 20.
Minister Khanal is scheduled to address the Leaders’ Plenary to be organized from September 20. Before the session, he will also participate in a question-and-answer program with media persons to be organized in the presence of the President of ‘Palau’ and the Prime Ministers of Australia and Fiji.
Nepal’s participation in the Pre-COPE Leaders’ Event, which is organized with the aim of advancing global dialogue and cooperation on climate change, is expected to provide an opportunity to raise the issues of climate change impacts, climate justice and concerns of Himalayan nations on the international stage.
After participating in the programs to be organized in Fiji and Tuvalu, Foreign Minister Khanal will depart for Australia, according to the Secretariat of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Ashwin 22. During the meeting, it is said that Nepal-Australia relations, bilateral cooperation and various issues of mutual interest will be discussed.
During his visit to Australia, Minister Khanal will also participate in separate programs organized by the Nepali Embassy in Canberra and the Nepali diaspora in Sydney.
Through these programs, he will interact with the Nepali community in Australia. Minister Khanal will return to Nepal on September 26, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
