Nepal Police Chief Prioritizes High-Tech Platform to Combat Financial and Cybercrime

Oct 16, Kathmandu - Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki says the force is prioritizing a technology-driven system to tackle rising financial and cybercrime.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the 71st Police Day and honoring fallen officers, Karki said Nepal Police is preparing to connect the Nepal Rastra Bank, internet and telecommunications providers, and digital wallet companies through a single platform. The system is intended to address public complaints more effectively and strengthen coordination among the institutions.

Karki also paid tribute to officers who died while serving the country, including during recent disasters in Bhotekoshi and along the Trishuli River. He wished a speedy recovery to police personnel injured or disabled in the line of duty and thanked current and former officers for their contributions to the force.

He said the government is emphasizing policy guidance, legal support, modern training, and infrastructure development to prepare Nepal Police for future disasters and other challenges.

Karki also said the government plans to develop the Nepal Police Hospital into a medical college, a move expected to expand its healthcare capacity. He expressed hope that the newly launched Police Mirror would connect younger generations with the force’s history and present-day work.

The Police Day was observed under the slogan, “A Partner in Disasters, a Shelter in Crisis, a Technology-Enabled Nepal Police.”
