Oct 20, Kathmandu - The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The technology is being introduced to make umpires' decisions more reliable and transparent in the tournament organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) starting from Kartik 9. According to the NPL, DRS will help reduce umpiring errors that may occur during the game and increase the fairness of the game. Through this system, players will be able to disagree with the umpire's decision and demand a review. According to CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, the cost of installing and operating the DRS will be borne jointly by CAN and all eight franchise teams participating in the tournament. The tournament has also received formal recognition and approval as a T-20 league from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Lumbini Lions and Sudurpaschim Royals will face each other in the opening match of the tournament, which will be held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, until Mangsir 5. The organizers expect the participation of foreign players and the use of modern sports technology to increase the attraction of this edition. The inclusion of DRS is seen as an important step in improving the technical level of Nepali cricket.
