Congress Puts Pressure On B and C Medical College, Jhapa

2nd March, Kathmandu

It is objectionable for the Education Minister to put pressure on B&C to be affiliated: Congress
Nepali Congress has protested against the pressure on Kathmandu University to give MBBS affiliation to the proposed B&C Medical College in Jhapa by Minister for Education and Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Krishna Prasad Poudel, secretary of the education department of the Nepali Congress, said that it was regrettable and objectionable to repeatedly interfere in the university contrary to the laws, rules and agreements made by the government at different times.

The Minister of Education himself warns the Department of Education of the Nepali Congress not to create political pressure by interfering with the autonomy of the university by violating the process, otherwise the consequences will be tragic, the statement said.

At the 89th Senate meeting of Kathmandu University held a few days ago, Minister for Education Shrestha had put pressure on B&C to move ahead with the process of affiliation.
