Chief Minister Rai's have given 1-week to withdraw with signature in a no-confidence motion

March 24, Kathmandu- The lawmakers who signed the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai have been given one week to withdraw their signatures. A meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) parliamentary party on Wednesday gave a one-week deadline. Thirty-seven lawmakers of the then CPN (Maoist) had filed a no-confidence motion against Rai on December 27.

Chief Whip Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari said that a written letter would be sent to the lawmakers signing the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai within seven days.

According to Rajbhandari, the meeting of the CPN-UML parliamentary party was attended by the then deputy leader of the CPN-UML and the leader of the Maoist Central Parliamentary Party, Tank Angbuhang, as well as some lawmakers who signed the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai.

Aang Buhang is currently nominated as a central member of the UML. A no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai has been tabled in the state assembly. However, the meeting was adjourned by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat without any discussion.

The meeting of the parliamentary party of the CPN-UML was held in the state assembly on Wednesday for the first time after the decision of the Supreme Court. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister and parliamentary party leader Rai, decided to give written instructions to the lawmakers who signed the no-confidence motion to withdraw their support.

The meeting of the parliamentary parties has decided to form a 15-member parliamentary board. It has four ex-officio members including the Chief Minister. The party leader, deputy leader, chief whip, and whip are ex-officio members.

Madhav Nepal group MPs Bhim Acharya, Rajendra Rai, Jeevan Ghimire, and others were not present at the meeting. However, Lila Vallabh Adhikari and Tulsi Neupane were present. CPN-UML has a single majority in the state assembly. Chief Whip Raj Bhandari said that 30 out of 51 MPs were present at the meeting on Wednesday.

The provincial assembly meeting has been postponed for a long time due to the dispute in the CPN (Maoist). The meeting could not be held due to the game of overthrowing and saving the government. Chief Minister Rai said that the speaker would convene a meeting of the state assembly after holding discussions with other parties.
