Chaite Dashain Is Being Celebrated

April 20, Kathmandu- Today (Tuesday), Hindu are celebrating Chaita Dashain, which is celebrated every year on Chaitra Shukla Ashtami, by worshipping Nava Durga Bhagwati.

There are four Navaratras in a year. Navratra in favour of Ashadh and Poush Shukla is not very popular. Some seekers, on the other hand, worship the goddess Shakti Swarupa on the Navratri of Ashadh and Poush Shukla.

On the Navratra of Ashwin Shukla's side, the deposit is kept from the day of Pratipada. That is why the tenth of Ashwin Shukla's side is called Baradasai. In Baradsai, on the tenth day of the month, vaccinations and deposits are made by the devotees. This sequence lasts until the Ashwin Shukla full moon.

In Chaite Dashain, that tradition is not in many families. In the Dasai Ghar of Hanuman Dhoka, it is customary to offer sacrifices on the Ashtami day along with the ritual worship. Ashtami and Navami are especially celebrated on Chaite Dashain. Ashtami is celebrated as Chaite Dashain and Navami is celebrated as Ram Navami as Rumpa Shri Ram, the eldest son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalyavati of Ayodhya, was born in the Treta era.

Devotees have been flocking to Shakti Peeths across the country since morning on the occasion of Chaite Dashain last year. Like last year, this year too, the government has issued an order not to attend more than five people to avoid the transmission of coronavirus.

Prof. Dr Ram Chandra Gautam, a theologian and chairman of the Nepal Panchang Judging Committee, said that those who cannot go to the temple can visit the temple mentally. "Since the Veds contain the words 'Sarvatah Atmanam Gopayet', which means protecting your body first, worship can be done at home to prevent the spread of the epidemic," he said.

Like Baradasai, the main purpose of worshipping Chaite Dasai is to seek blessings for happiness, peace and prosperity in this world and in the hereafter. As in Baradsai, gatherings are held between family members on Chaite Dasai. Special worship is held on the occasion of Chaite Dashain at Guhyeshwari, Jagwageshwari, Maiti Devi, Naxal Bhagwati, Bhadrakali, Shobha Bhagwati, Kalikasthan, Bajrayogini, Indrayani, Bijeshwari, Sundarimai, Chamunda Devi and other places in the valley.

Similarly, special worship is performed on the occasion of Chaitra Navratra at Palanchok Bhagwati, Chandeshwari, Nala Bhagwati, Palchok Bhagwati, Shaileshwari, Vageshwari, Gahawamai, Manakamana, Kalika Devi and other Shakti Peeths outside the valley. There is a religious belief that if you go to Shakti Peeth on the occasion of this festival called Chaitra Navratra, you will get strength and fulfil your desires.
